Lesson Task – Teaspoon

You are given a teaspoon as an object. Now apply each one of the SCAMPER techniques to it and give a brief explanation of what new product comes of this and how it can be marketed.

• Substitute something
  • You can replace the handle with a straw made of metal
• Combine it with something else
  • Add a strainer so you don’t get big clumps in the straw
• Adapt something to it
  • You add a little fan at the spoon part so everything becomes cold and you don’t burn yourself
• Modify or Magnify it
  • Magnify the spoon so it becomes a much deeper bowl
• Put to other uses
  • You can use it as a teapot
• Eliminate something
  • Eliminate the fan
• Reverse or Rearrange it
  • Rearrange the strainer to the bowl with a stick on top

Now I have an open solution coffee brewer with a straw! The way it would be marketed would be for people on the go that needs a quick coffee break on their way. All they need would be some hot water and coffee grounds!
